Again, I have been touched by world events that have occurred far from my home in Texas. Having lived through two of our largest earthquakes in Los Angeles and being an EMT and ham radio operator, I again feel helpless in regards to the people in Japan who have just experience a catastrophic earthquake that early measurements indicate was an 8.9. Between the damage from the quake and the resulting Tsunamis, the human impact is hard to understand. As a small action and service, I have started to compile resources and information to help others follow events in Japan related to this quake. It is my hope that this SIMPLE DASHBOARD, which will grow over time, will serve as both an information center aggregating official and new media news as well as provide geologic information that teachers might find helpful for teaching about these types of events.
